Will We Be There Someday?

Close your eyes and imagine a blue sky
Wherefrom there shines a golden light
Upon rivers flowing with milk and honey
Watering the sweet-bread trees

How many of us think it is just a dream?
Impossible, unreachable, or so it seems
How can we ever live without poverty?
Pollution, war, and disease?

Will we be there someday? Will we find a way?
Will we get there and no longer feel
Any sadness or misery? Will we cry happily?
In a light that will shine so brightly?

And will we get there somehow in this lifetime?
I do not know. Can it be so? But still I hope
That many of us, when looking at the rainbow
Will see a brighter tomorrow

But if we get there, will we feel incomplete?
Will happiness, togetherness be all we need?
Can we really live in peace for eternity?
In perfect harmony?

Will we be there someday? Will we find a way?
Will we get there but realize that we
Cannot live through monotony, monotonous eternity
In a light that surrounds us endlessly…
